Hyrum Benson is an artist whose area of focus is clay. Benson earned his MFA from the College of Art and Design from the University of North Texas, and his BFA from Brigham Young University–Idaho. It was at BYU–Idaho that he discovered clay and as he puts it “caught the clay bug.” He always knew that he wanted to be an artist, but didn’t realize that his medium of choice would be ceramics.
Benson is married and has seven beautiful children. A native of Idaho, Benson has also lived in Paraguay for two years, the great state of Texas and currently resides in the beauties of northern Maine, where he is an Associate Professor of Art at the University of Maine at Presque Isle.
